Brussels

Brussels was a short and sweet visit.  And I'm glad we did it that way because you can see just about everything in just a day or two.  The hostel we stayed in was the nicest one yet.  Plenty of space, nice beds, nice showers, and central to everything.

First, food.  Belgium is known for their Beer, Waffles, Chocolate, and appearantly their fries/frites.  We tried everything and weren't disappointed! For some reason I pictured their beers tasting sweet and chocolatey, but really they were more like sour beers.

The waffles were incredible.  Pretty much the same thing as a funnel cake though.  Super super light and slightly crispy on the outside.

I prefer my fries sans mayonnaise, thanks.  But they were still pretty good.  I wouldn't say necessarily better than what you can get in the states, but they cook them up hot and fresh right in front of you.  Plus they taste really good after a few brews.

Next, the sights.  Pretty much the only iconic sight in Brussels is mannequin pis.

The statue is way smaller than I was expecting, but still cool to see.  Below, appearantly, is his sister (also peeing).

There were also some pretty buildings and churches and statues, but I'm not going to bore you with any of them other than this one which lit up and played music at night.

Lastly, the nightlife.  We were a bit dissapointed to find out that there was no pub crawl in Brussels.  Like I mentioned before, the pub crawls have made it very easy to make friends and meet people our age.  Brussels redeeming factor is that they have a pub called delirium cafe. Delirium serves over 2000 different beers.  We tried maybe ten haha.

We had our first "incident" in the hostel.  While I was sleeping, my phone charger fell out of the wall and made a noise.  The girl in the bunk next to me told me that I was going to get a rude wake up call at five the next morning along with some other choice language.

Lastly, the language gap is starting to increase a bit as we move further east. We were spoiled by visiting dublin and London first. Most people speak English, but the primary language is French.

I'll check back in when we're in Amsterdam.
